Project Description
For this project, we were assigned to pick a sport action and find the physics of it. We also had to show how to do the action in the most successful way possible, so it can help our school's sports teams. We had about two weeks to write a script, make a storyboard, and construct the video. My group and I chose the sport swimming and picked the action of a track start dive. This was an action that was never ever used in the past years this project was assigned, so we felt very special to be the first group to do diving. The three physical components we calculated were the vertical velocity, horizontal velocity, and the force a diver exerts on a diving block. Down below, you will see the video my group and I made that will include how to do the action, physics of it, and how to perform the action in the most successful way possible.

Concepts
Velocity: The rate of distance traveled over a period of time. We used the equation change in distance divided by change in time. The velocity showed how fast the diver goes horizontally and vertically.
Force: The push or pull on an object which causes change in motion. The diver exerts more force when he or she is jumping off the diving block. The equation we used was mass times velocity equals force times time (mv=ft).
Momentum: Tendency for moving objects to stay moving.
Vector Diagrams: Vector diagrams are diagrams that depict the direction and relative magnitude of a vector quantity by a vector arrow. Vector diagrams can be used to describe the velocity of a moving object during its motion.

Making the physics of sports video was a lot of work. We used windows movie maker to make our video, but no one in my group knew how to use it properly so we had many issues while making the video. We were really tight on the time we had so we came at lunch to finish our project many times. Recording the voice overs was the part that took the most time but was the most fun. We spent most of our time in the hallway recording voice overs again and again and again. I didn't realized all the physics that are used in every sport. We tried our very best in teaching people how to perform a dive in the most successful way possible using physics. If i changed something in the video, it would be the sport action. I wanted to do how to perform a perfect lay up but we ended up not doing that. But if we had, we could have gotten some filming of ourselves performing the sport action. Since everyone in my group was busy, we couldn't find a day when we were all free to go to the Novato High pool and record some videos. Two good things I did was take leadership and not get distracted when other people did. Two things I can improve on is not to get mad at my group mates for doing something wrong and making sure to finish the project at least two days before the project is due. This project was definitely one that I had very fun working on!!!
